Classic Italian dessert with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone

This authentic tiramisu recipe creates the perfect balance of coffee, cream, and sweetness in Italy’s most beloved dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 6 egg yolks
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1¼ cups mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1¾ cups heavy cream
  • 2 packages ladyfinger cookies
  • 1 cup strong espresso, cooled
  • 3 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Whisk egg yolks and sugar until thick and pale.
  2. Add mascarpone and whisk until smooth.
  3. In separate bowl, whip cream to stiff peaks.
  4. Gently fold whipped cream into mascarpone mixture.
  5. Combine espresso and coffee liqueur in shallow dish.
  6. Quickly dip each ladyfinger in coffee mixture.
  7. Arrange dipped cookies in single layer in dish.
  8. Spread half the mascarpone mixture over cookies.
  9. Repeat layers, ending with mascarpone.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Before serving, dust with cocoa and garnish with chocolate.

For best results, make tiramisu a day ahead. The flavors meld beautifully overnight, and the texture becomes perfectly creamy.
